Declining My General Studies A Level?

I've completed my A levels last year and basically have this: AAAC(in general studies, together with a module which I got a U in!).

Is it possible for me to go to the exams office at school and say that I want to drop the A level qualification and.. only stick to the AS one, which is still a C..

The course I'm applying for, medicine, doesn't take into account general studies but still I am worried that they will look at that and get distracted by the low grade.

You can't decline grades. Therefore, you're stuck with it.

Have you banked the grade yet, if you have not then you may be able to improve on a module. However Juno is right.

you could always resit the modules but other than that you're stuck with it
Wait does that mean on ucas you have to say you did general studies and what you got?

Yes, if the qualification has been certificated.

So I can't just quit the damn A Level so it doesn't appear on my certificate? It's my grade, I've taken the exam, surely I can do whatever I want??

ok this is going to sound a bit more extreme but say you had commited a crime and been "banged up" or given an ASBO or w/e. Would you say the same thing about that?
-it was my sentence i dont have to tell people about it.

Or the notice of the rule change itself, which might be seen, as a primary source, as a bit more authoritative: http://www.jcq.org.uk/attachments/published/379/Reminder%20of%20change%20to%20the%20GCE%20Applied%20GCE%20and%20GNVQ%20certification%20and%20decline%20rules.pdf

Thanks guys; I hope that when the universities say they don't take General Studies into consideration, they actually mean it.

On your results slip from the exam board, if it says the total ums out of 300 ie. 275/300 then it means they've been cashed in, if not then it hasn't.
