several ways to approach this,

a) it doesn't really matter where you do your first degree (if you then do a Master etc)
b) some kids can often do a short coding course and start working at age 18 , without a degree!, w/o - internship = real job
c) Dundee's pair of uni's are in a mini-silicon-glen for Gaming https://wccftech.com/ruffian-games-j...hily-acquired/
d) Abertay (one of the unis in c) has a helpful list here for the TYPES of computing degree https://www.abertay.ac.uk/course-sea...ords=computing
e) GCHQ trading as NCSC has a further list of cybersecurity computing approved courses - that's also a fast track into a specific direction of computing

Provisionally certified Bachelor's degrees
Institution...........................Degree course
1. Cardiff Metropolitan University................BSc Computer Security
2. Oxford Brookes University................BSc Computer Science for Computer Security
3. Royal Holloway, University of London................BSc Computer Science (Information Security)
3. = Royal Holloway UoL................BSc Computer Science (Information Security) with a Year in Industry
4. University of South Wales................BSc Computer Science
5. University of Warwick................BSc Cyber Security

and some certified Master degrees
1. Edinburgh Napier University................MSc in Advanced Security and Digital Forensics
2. Lancaster University................MSc in Cyber Security
3. University of Oxford................MSc in Software and Systems Security
4. Royal Holloway................MSc in Information Security
5. University of York................MSc in Cyber Security
6. Cranfield University................Cyber Defence and Information Assurance MSc/PgCert/PgDip
7. University of Birmingham................MSc in Cyber Security
8. University of Southampton................MSc Cyber Security
9. University of Surrey................MSc in Information Security
10. University of Warwick................MSc in Cyber Security and Management

is that enough lists?, I can go on :-)

What do you want to specialise in/work in?
Edinburgh and Southampton are generally the best options- but it depends very much on your interests. Edinburgh is especially good for informatics and AI, Southampton for web science and software engineering.

(Also for what it’s worth oxbridge isn’t that great for computer science if you don’t want a heavily theory based course, and Imperial don’t offer a CS degree they offer Computing).

Mostly machine learning. I heard that computing is basically computer science but they name it tat way as it involves more practical than theory?

“machine learning”

I just bought the $99 (bit more by the time you do $->£ and add a fan) CUDA AI/ML home plaything, “【 Deep Learning Inference Benchmarks 】Jetson Nano can run a wide variety of advanced networks, including the full native versions of popular ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, Caffe/Caffe2, Keras, MXNet, and others. These networks can be used to build autonomous machines and complex AI systems by implementing robust capabilities such as image recognition, object detection and localization, pose estimation, semantic segmentation, video enhancement, and intelligent analytics.”

Model B01 here for example https://www.amazon.co.uk/seeed-studi...dp/B084P23M3R/

I bought mine thru AMZN, but when it arrived it had a radiospares part-number sticker on the box.
https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/proce...tools/1999831/ £99, but backordered, so I guess an AMZN reseller ‘scalped’ the hobbyists who can teach themselves CUDA physics

(It’s basically a 4GB RAM raspberry Pi but with 128 Maxwell GPU cores & a full Nvidia development environment)

Hi there!

The University of Surrey do have an undergraduate degree in Computer Science (BSc). Some of my flatmates last year are studying Computer Science and really enjoyed it!

I have attached the link to the Surrey Computer Science course where you can find out more information and also book on an open day if that interests you https://www.surrey.ac.uk/undergraduate/computer-science

Please let me know if you have any queries about Surrey, the course of university in general, I can help you out!

HI Zack

Edinburgh Napier has a brilliant BSc (Hons) Computing Science degree, last year it received 100% student satisfaction and I highly recommend taking into consideration that we also offer placement and internship opportunities, I have added both links below for you to check out. You can also reach out to the programme leader for more information should you have any course specific questions!

https://www.napier.ac.uk/courses/bsc...duate-fulltime

https://www.napier.ac.uk/about-us/ou...ments#students

If there is anything else that I can help with, please give me a shout!

Thanks
