Studying History

Hi! I'm junior in high school and I'm thinking of studying History when I go to university. Does anyone know good universities in USA or UK that have a good History program. And if anyone has any experience in having History as their major or being a Historian I would really like to see how it is.
I'm British so can't comment on US unis but I applied for history this year, and I think the top ones are Oxford, St Andrews, Cambridge, Durham, Bristol etc

I'm a current PhD History Student at the University of Hull. I also studied my Undergraduate and Masters degrees here as well.

There are plenty of brilliant universities which offer History in the UK. I personally looked around approximately 10 universities before settling on Hull with an insurance choice of Bangor.
When considering studying history it is important to consider whether there is a particular specialism which you are interested in or a particular period.

As a student of History at the University of Hull, you will work to uncover the historical roots of contemporary social, political and environmental challenges. From classical civilisations to modern communities you will explore how all different periods of history continue to influence and shape our world, and to help us understand it better.
