You have to select two physiological disorders from these:

Diabetes

Parkinson’s disease

Rheumatoid arthritis

Asthma

Coronary heart disease

Bowel cancer

Make sure you talk about service users in general

A: P1 Explain the causes, signs and symptoms of different types of physiological disorder on service users

For this explain the cause of i.e., asthma signs and symptoms of the two physiological disorder has on your chosen service users (take into account the age of the service users and how it affects their health). Use page 450 to 452 to help you

A: M1 Analyse the changes in body systems and functions resulting from different types of physiological disorder on service users

For this explain how what your two chosen physiological disorders are. Then explain how it changes the body system and function. Use page 436 to 440 to help you

A: D1 Evaluate the impact of physiological disorders on the health and wellbeing of service users

Explain how your two physiological disorders affects the service users physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually in the long term and short term. Use page 441 to 449 to help you

A: P1, M1 and D1 should be one paragraph for your first physiological disorder that you’re talking about and then another paragraph for your second physiological disorder

B: P2 Compare investigative and diagnostic procedures for different physiological disorders

For this explain how you investigate and diagnosis your two chosen physiological disorders i.e., how you investigate whether a person has asthma and the diagnosis for asthma. Use page 453 to 457 for investigative and page 457 to 459 for diagnosic to guide you

B: M2 Assess the importance of specific procedures in confirming the diagnosis of physiological disorders

After P2, explain why it is important to do that specific type of procedure for i.e., asthma for confirming and diagnosing it, for example it’s important to check for clinical history of asthma as they can check for family history of asthma. Use the bottom of page 259 after the title Biopsy

BC: D2 Justify the potential benefits of different investigations and treatment options for service users diagnosed with physiological disorders

Explain the benefits and weaknesses of each test they have for diagnosing and treating a physiological disorder. And then at the end explain which testing and diagnosis you think is the most useful and why? (Make sure it’s third person) For exaple the one with the most benefits is/are... the one with the least benefit is/are

As above, B: P2, M2 and BC: D2 should be one paragraph for your first physiological disorder that you’re talking about and then another paragraph for your second physiological disorder

C: P3 Explain the treatment and support available for service users with different physiological disorders

For this, talk about the treatment and support available for people with the two different physiological disorders i.e., for asthma the available treatment is an inhaler an inhaler is… Use page 459 to 461 for guidance

C. P4 Compare the types of carers and care settings for service users with different physiological disorders

For this talk about types of health care professional and real life care settings i.e., Kings College Hospital that can care for service users with two different physiological disorders i.e., for asthma the services available in London are Primary Care for example, the GP can… Also, the Royal London Hospital in London specialises in asthma what they do is… Use the bottom page of 461 to 464 for carers and page 464 to 466 for care settings for guidance

C: P3 and C:P4 should be one paragraph for your first physiological disorder that you’re talking about and then another paragraph for your second physiological disorder

C: M3 Assess the provision of treatment, support and types of care for service users with different physiological disorders

This should be treated as a conclusion of what you’ve explained in P3 and P4.

For example, As explained above there is a wide range of support available for service users suffering from (insert your two physiological disorders). These include (write the support and types of care that you’re explained in P3 and P4). By having these types of care and support for (insert your two physiological disorders) they will (talk about how these support and types of care can benefit service users).

This is how Task One should be laid out

Task Two

For this task, you must select one service user who has a physiological disorder. The individual could be a family member, relative, friend or neighbour, but your selection must be agreed with your teacher before starting it

D: P5 Assess care needs of a selected service user with a physiological disorder

For this talk about what your chosen individual with a physiological disorder needs (i.e., what treatment they need, what healthcare professional they need, what diagnosis they need). Use page 468 to 469 for guidance and page 471 to guide you

D: P6 Plan treatment to meet the needs of a selected service user with a physiological disorder

Quite self-explanatory, make a plan for what treatment (i.e., for asthma an inhaler) they need, you can do it as a mind map or as a table or as a paragraph. Get creative! Use page 469 to 470 for guidance

D: P7 Explain how the plan would improve the health and wellbeing of a selected service user

For this talk about how each treatment from you talked about from P6 can help improve the service user physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially (PIES)

D: M6 Plan treatment to meet the needs of a selected service user with a physiological disorder, reviewing as appropriate to improve outcomes

For this talk about how each treatment from P6 can help improve their physiological disorder in some way (i.e., can change the body system). Use page 472 for guidance

For D: P6, P7 and M6 feel free to talk about them in one paragraph, table or mind map

D: D3 Justify the recommendations in the plan in relation to the needs of the service user and advantages and disadvantages of treatment options.

Explain WHY you think these treatments can help the service users by explaining the advantages and disadvantages of each treatment and then explain at the end which treatment is the most beneficial to the service users and the least beneficial.
