PGCE after MA loan. Advice and opinion

I already have an MA. I had a student loan for this. I make payments to student finance as I am working abroad.
I plan to return to the UK and do a PGCE.

If I take out another postgraduate loan to do this, how much will I repay when I start working again? Does anyone know how it will be calculated?

Is the pgce loan added to my “plan 2” loan on student finance?

Has anyone done a pgce after a masters? Honestly, has it been worth it?
How has it effected you financially?

In terms of calculating loan repayment rates and what plan you'll be on, you're probably best to ask one of the experts in the Student Finance team as they'd be able to give you up to date information on how the finance would work in your situation. There's a TSR thread called Ask Student Finance England where the team from SFE give advice Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm. Thread link is https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=910.

In terms of whether a PGCE after your Masters is worth it, it really depends on what you plan to do in terms of your career. If you're seeking to teach at either primary or secondary level in the UK, you'll need a qualification that gives you appropriate qualified teacher status (QTE). If you Masters doesn't already have that, then a PGCE is probably the quickest way to obtain it - although it is certainly not the only route into teaching. There's information about routes to QTE at https://beta-getintoteaching.education.gov.uk/ways-to-train and https://www.prospects.ac.uk/jobs-and-work-experience/job-sectors/teacher-training-and-education/routes-into-teaching.

Hope that helps!
