Muslim isn't a race. You're just being sexist and insular. University is about having your opinions and beliefs challenged.

Isn’t it okay to feel comfortable with someone from the same religion as you?

I didn't say that it wasn't. Before being outraged, perhaps you should try to understand what someone has said.

University is about broadening your horizons, both academically and personally, IMO.

Exactly
That's her choice. I'm merely encouraging her to be less insular.

If you don't mix with people from other religious and non-religious, backgrounds, you can't be surprised that they don't understand each other. More interaction between groups makes for fewer problems between them, IMO.

OP: Again, it's your choice, but, IMO, it would be a missed opportunity if you don't socialise outside of your comfort zone at university.

Hey,
I hope you are well.
To correct my original post, the term race was clearly misused, but my comment was not aimed to religiously discriminate or be sexist in any way.
Nevertheless, a person choice of not wanting to live with any boys is simply due to convenience and religious reasons due to hijab- which is something of high respect. Also, regarding the choice of me wanting to live with Muslims, is due to halal food consumption and practices, personally, I wouldn't want to live with people who have pork, party, or do other activities that would cause me inconvenience.

If this message caused offense to anyone, my sincere apologies.
I hope this makes sense,

Regards,
Also, the previous message was from me, but just to clear the air, I have many friends that have different religious beliefs as me, and I have also lived with people from different religious backgrounds. Ttherefore, my choice of wanting to live with people from the same religion as me has nothing to do with me not understanding people from different backgrounds.
Apologies if the message caused offence,

Regards

Hey, sorry about them calling you "sexist" or "insular." Don't let it get to you, you aren't doing anything wrong  Some people have no other job aside from harassing strangers online. Hope you find flatmates soon. Best of luck!

You have every right to feel comfortable where you live, especially with being a hijab wearing woman. No one wants to have to go back to their home and not be able to off their hijab, cook food without having to sanitise all cooking area because their may have been pork, alcohol. Even in terms of praying, living with Muslims gets rid of the inconvenience that of having to ask flat mates to turn down their music or lower their tones. It isn’t you, it’s honestly JUST them.
