Referee as an individual applicant

Hi all,
This year, I'm applying for an undergraduate course as an individual and I have a question about the referee section. In the referee section, why is it required to type in all the referee's personal information including their address?

I'm sorry if the question is a little silly, but I'm just a little curious about this.
