Hello Guys,

I am an international student and considering the following universities for Fall 2021 intake -

1. University of Strathclyde - MSc Digital Marketing
2. University of Dundee - MSc Digital & Social Media Marketing
3. Heriot-Watt University - MSc Digital Marketing
4. Aston University - MSc Strategic Marketing Management

As per my research, ranking and department wise, Strathclyde and Aston are better than the other 2. Also as per my conversations with a few past students, digital marketing seems to have more career prospects in the UK. How much of this is true? I want to be able to land a job post my master’s and would like to know which university and degree (digital marketing / strategic marketing) would be better in terms of career prospects (tier 2 sponsorship) in the UK?

Look forward to your suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

Strategic Marketing Management MSc at Aston was ranked 3rd in the UK (Eduniversal Best Masters Ranking, 2019) and will equip you with the knowledge and skills for you to launch your career in marketing. You’ll gain a breadth of applied and practical experiences, from developing your own marketing strategy, to opportunities to work with start-ups, or undertake an internship, helping to bring what you study to life in a real-world context.

You'll get the chance to specialise through the elective modules you choose, meaning you can shape this course to suit your interest and career ambitions. As such you can choose to take up a Digital marketing module which will allow you to have the best of both worlds.

Recent graduates have setup their own businesses as well as gone into roles including Brand Manager, Head of Marketing, Marketing and Sales Manager, Brand Manager, Business Development Manager, Business Analyst, Market Researcher, PR Assistant and Social Media Manager. Some companies graduates have gone on to work at include:

Muller Dairy
Ralph Lauren
Merlin Entertainment Plc
Barclays Bank
KPMG
Nielsen
Tesco
Moncler
Mercedes Benz
Microsoft.

I hope this has helped

Both Strathclyd an Aston business schools are triple-accredited so that is important. Both are good business schools. Take a look at the cities since you will be spending time there. Aston is part of the city of Birmingham, a large metropolitan city in the middle of England. Strathclyde is a part of Glasgow, a large city in Scotland. Both are great cities. Take a look at the international student population in both unis - do they have a society for your country? Can be important of making friends and settling down.
