Advice for studying Palaeoanthropology masters

I'm currently in my 4th year of an astrophysics Bsc (I did a foundation year as well) and with the state of the world at the moment I'm concerned about going straight into the world of work so have been considering doing a masters to give myself an extra year and allow me to live with my friends for another year. However, I'm really fed up with my degree, it's so complicated and is mostly pretty poorly taught, plus the modules available for an astrophysics masters at my uni don't really appeal to me massively. I'd love to do something different for a year, less maths based and more wordy as I've always enjoyed writing essays. The point is to stay in the same city I'm in now so I was looking at masters courses my uni offered and came across Palaeoanthropology. It sounds really interesting, definitely more word based than purely maths like astrophysics is and I can tailor it so it would be completely coursework based (which definitely appeals to me). I'd get to study early human art and symbolism (I'm really interested in this!) as well as doing a dissertation (something you don't get to do with astro). The entry requirements mention having a degree in a science subject and specifically mentions physics as well which gives me hope. I was going to email the head of department and ask him about it but I also wanted to put something on here in the hopes of speaking to some people who study Palaeoanthropology to see how they find it? Obviously it would be different from uni to uni but just wanted to see if it was the right subject for me as thats of course the most important thing.

Thanks!

Friend of mine did this at Liverpool. I can ask them about it - what would you like to know? They take people from a lot of backgrounds, but the best thing to do is email the admissions tutor, as well, as they'll be able to tell if you would suit the course and are capable of doing it.

That is mental I’m at Liverpool! Would it be possible for you to put me in touch with them? Would be good to talk to see how they found it!

Drop me a DM with your questions (or post here) and I can forward it to them! They might want to get in touch via me as they don't have social media, but happy to ask
