I’m currently on a gap year and have recently found a degree apprenticeship with the Government Economic Service. I’ve just sent off my UCAS application (haven’t got a response from any yet) and I’m just unsure with whether I should go to university or apply to this apprenticeship. Does anyone have any advice?

You should apply to the apprenticeship, then wait to see if you get any offers for uni , I would choose uni over the apprenticeship unless it’s your dream one

Degree apprenticeships work out better, only if you’re are very certain on your career and what you want to do. Apprenticeship degree’s really underpin every aspect of the job, and provide you the exact skills you would need which are sufficient to showcase when you try to find a job in the same field after you complete the Apprenticeship degree. Also, sometimes you end up being lucky to be offered a job within the same company who invested in you to do the degree. Only speaking from experience, as I did a degree and my brother is doing an apprenticeship degree. He’s already doing the job and the job role at a higher level within 2nd year of university. Where as for myself, trying to find a job within even region of my degree was very difficult due to insufficient experience. Knowledge is good, but it’s the practical experience which helps you. Maybe thinking about what you really want to do will help you understand whether the apprenticeship degree would work, and see how past students on a similar apprenticeship found it?
