if 1 mol contains 6.02 x 10^23 molecules (avogadro's number), then 0.35 mole contains X, simple mathematics, cross multiply.
    the answer is 2.107 x 10^23 molecules

I'm not far enough into my course to know what the . means, ordinarily the CuSO4 is just a solute, what is its relationship to water when its written CuSO4.5H2O? Surely its more complicated than above, thats kind of easy and the question is written in a more complex format...

The water just show that it's hydrated copper (II) sulphate - the normal blue kind) - rather than anhydrous (white powder).
