What to expect on a PwC Insight Day?

Been offered an invitation, and I would really like to know what to expect so that I can prepare myself.
Any info would be greatly appreciated! :smile:

Prepare to be bored... - insight days are all about the firms themselves and how they work. Some interesting team activities though - make a chair out of newspaper anyone?

is it beneficial to attend this event? later if u apply for insight week in spring ull have a back up info for the interview?

Basically what In1Su said, i found it quite helpful though. They give you a lot of info on themselves and how they operate, and what they look for in candidates when recruiting.

Like In1Su said, some fun team games...when i was there we broke the record for the speed at which you can make a sequence of shapes with cones, without talking to eachother.

Overall is helpful, boring at times though as they can talk at you a lot.

have u applied there? did u find useful having the insight day on your CV when it comes to applying for a SW or summer internship?do you think the HR will look at candidates that attended the Insight Day as they will know more for the company?

It's always good to have some sort of knowledge of the company but for the insight day it's not required as they fill you with a lot of info about themselves. However a good knowledge of the business world and recent events that would've been in the news etc would impress.

One of the tasks we had to do was to share our opinions on, for example, Kraft's takeover of Cadbury. So a detailed knowledge of Commerce would impress.

In terms of the CV and jobs...i only attended the insight day recently so i can't really comment on the effect this has but i'm sure it's a good addition to any students CV.

It is definately worth going to. You discuss the firm; what the firm does, how many offices they have in how many countries, the difference clients of the firm etc. I didn't know much before I went so I found it very interesting and the graduates that lead the course were very enthusiastic about the firm and very helpful.
We also got into groups and chose a newspaper article to explain in terms of finance/economics. Ours was on the BA strikes! Wasn't hugely relevant but everything is economics related up to a point!
Overall its a great day....have fun!
