Need to find an Exam Centre ASAP!!!

Hi, I am a Scottish student doing Physics, Chemistry and Biology at A-level (distance learning) with Edexcel. I cannot find an exam centre near Glasgow (where I live) that will accomodate me as a private candidate and I have spoken to all the Scottish exam centres Edexcel forwarded to me (via e-mail).

I am now considering doing the exams at an English college (preferably near to Scotland), so could someone please tell me which ones accept private candidates?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

P.S. I need to sit all 6 modules for each course (inc. practicals) - only reason I'm saying this is because some colleges will let you do the theory and not the practicals

I'd imagine there are plenty of colleges which accept private candidates. Find a city that's accessible to you, and contact their colleges. It's a long-winded process, but that's really the best option. You could also try contacting their city council for more help and information.

This was what I was doing but because of time constraints (can't go into detail) I need to find one very, very quickly. Maybe someone in a similiar situation could tell me which exam centre they used??

Ah right - well, there's plenty of English cities/colleges to choose from, so you'd need to specify a place so someone can help out! And it shouldn't be too time-consuming. Just ring up some colleges/the council from your chosen city and you should get instant answers - it really won't take long. Maybe for added speed you can tell them that you need to know quickly, possibly giving reasons etc.

Newcastle, Carlisle etc should do it, basically anywhere in Northern England

http://www.examentry.co.uk/ ... not near to Scotland but you can do both the exams an practicals there so if you get really stuck it's an option!

Thanks for the help, I've found a college - Basil Paterson - in Edinburgh that will accomodate me.

Found it thanks to this LIFE-SAVING website:

Only problem is you need an Oxford student number to access it :frown:

TBH contact AQA and they will send you a booklet giving many private centres that will take you. I know you are doing Edexcel but it doesn't matter the centres will take Edexcel entrys to.

Unlucky. When I posted this, you didn't need a student number. I think if you go to www.nec.ac.uk you can also get a list of exam centres in the UK. Hope you find one, good luck.
