I need some advice for series to watch, the last couple I have downloaded have been pretty boring (but then again I do despise football)
Watch Scrapped Princess if you can (but it's licensed now...though hasn't been released on DVD so...), Bleach and Mai Hime.
Actually, will write a short list with brief introduction/explanation.
- Fantasy/Action series with plently of wholesome character development etc. 26 episodes
Pacifica Kassul (the Scrapped Princess) was discarded after birth when a prophecy foretold that we would bring destruction upon the world at the dawn of her 16th birthday.
With the fateful day approaching, she and her two siblings (from her adopted family), Shannon and Raquel have set out on a journey in an attempt to avoid being killed. However, confrontation cannot be escaped; Pacifica is 'the poison that will destroy the world' and her magic using sister and sword wielding brother must protect her from the constant attacks of would-be-assassins.
That's the basic plot. If you can get your hands on it, have a watch, I absolutely love this series.
- New series with 13 subbed releases currently availble. Well worth watching.
A series based on the existance of ghosts, it has lots of satisfying action and humour.
I'll go into more detail if you like, but it might spoil the first ep for you.
Main character = male -Kurosaki Ichigo
- a series at the same stage as Bleach release wise, and another one I'm really enjoying. This time the main character is female - Tokiha Mai.
Again, although it'll be really obvious from the intro/opening music scene, I wont describe the plot unless you want me to.
Another action/life anime with a pretty large cast of characters to get to know.
- I was sceptical about this series at first, but I think it's just very different to a lot of the other things I watch.
This series is based around (rock) music/bands. If you try it out and aren't too keen, watch the first few episodes before you decide to drop it.
Jungle wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu
- might seem a bit 'kiddy' at first. Give it a chance. It's a highly amusing series and Guu is just...evil
Have just remembered it's been licensed now though. Damn.
-again-licensed and completely ruined by the American dubbers but try some subbed if you can.
Pirate/Action anime. Give it a chance. The animation style/ep quality is a bit grainy and again you might be put off by initially by the 'kiddy' impression. However, despite having a couple of slighly (?!) irritating characters it is a very good series and has some of the funniest lines/scenes/moments I've watched.
Currently there are 126 subbed episodes, while the actual series is roughly 100 episodes on.
Erm...a couple more (non DVD) but licensed action series such as Samurai 7 and Samurai Champloo might interest you.
I wont suggest any DVD-releases, unless you're after spending some dosh.
Anyway, that'll do for now.
