You can learn so much from anime, I have just found out the wasabi is made from horseradish when watching Yakitate Japan.
*chortle* I just watched that today as well.

In case anyone is interested in buying Noir, it's on sale on Play.com at the moment I believe, and has been for some time.

I haven't seen it and probably wont buy it. Mainly female cast = not all that tempting when money is concerned!

Might write some comments/summaries on the series I like at some point- try and coerce people into watching them!

I need some advice for series to watch, the last couple I have downloaded have been pretty boring (but then again I do despise football)

I may consider buying a couple of DVDs, but only if it has Japanese Audio and subtitles.

Watch Scrapped Princess if you can (but it's licensed now...though hasn't been released on DVD so...), Bleach and Mai Hime.

Actually, will write a short list with brief introduction/explanation.

So-

Scrapped Princess - Fantasy/Action series with plently of wholesome character development etc. 26 episodes
Pacifica Kassul (the Scrapped Princess) was discarded after birth when a prophecy foretold that we would bring destruction upon the world at the dawn of her 16th birthday.
With the fateful day approaching, she and her two siblings (from her adopted family), Shannon and Raquel have set out on a journey in an attempt to avoid being killed. However, confrontation cannot be escaped; Pacifica is 'the poison that will destroy the world' and her magic using sister and sword wielding brother must protect her from the constant attacks of would-be-assassins.

That's the basic plot. If you can get your hands on it, have a watch, I absolutely love this series.

Bleach- New series with 13 subbed releases currently availble. Well worth watching.
A series based on the existance of ghosts, it has lots of satisfying action and humour.
I'll go into more detail if you like, but it might spoil the first ep for you.
Main character = male -Kurosaki Ichigo

Mai/My HIME- a series at the same stage as Bleach release wise, and another one I'm really enjoying. This time the main character is female - Tokiha Mai.
Again, although it'll be really obvious from the intro/opening music scene, I wont describe the plot unless you want me to.
Another action/life anime with a pretty large cast of characters to get to know.

Beck- I was sceptical about this series at first, but I think it's just very different to a lot of the other things I watch.

This series is based around (rock) music/bands. If you try it out and aren't too keen, watch the first few episodes before you decide to drop it.

Jungle wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu - might seem a bit 'kiddy' at first. Give it a chance. It's a highly amusing series and Guu is just...evil

Have just remembered it's been licensed now though. Damn.

One Piece -again-licensed and completely ruined by the American dubbers but try some subbed if you can.

Pirate/Action anime. Give it a chance. The animation style/ep quality is a bit grainy and again you might be put off by initially by the 'kiddy' impression. However, despite having a couple of slighly (?!) irritating characters it is a very good series and has some of the funniest lines/scenes/moments I've watched.

Currently there are 126 subbed episodes, while the actual series is roughly 100 episodes on.

Erm...a couple more (non DVD) but licensed action series such as Samurai 7 and Samurai Champloo might interest you.

I wont suggest any DVD-releases, unless you're after spending some dosh.

Anyway, that'll do for now.

It has both English and Japanese audio, and subtitles (I think, I've never tried listening to it in Japanese).

Wahoo, We finally get the first glimse of Kimimaro, I just can't wait for when he really starts going. It is quite excellent that the naruto anime is moving at quite a pace now, I had not envisioned getting to this point for another month or so.

It is anime, just hentai anime (not to be confused with ecchi anime which is not exclusively meant to be anime pornography), although most do not watch it so you might be a bit short on people to discuss it with.

I know, I've been looking forward to seeing who/what this character would be having seen a few fanarts (but not being a pre-anime manga reader) so I'm greatly anticipating the next few episodes.

I have to say, I laughed quite a bit with dubious thought connections during the Oro scene/s. It's times like these I wish my brother and sister were watching it with me.

Yes, can't say it's something that I would download! Though, I did accidently get some dodgy (pretty graphic) shounen-ai manga earlier...woops!

I was in Virgin megastores today and I must say i wish I had a couple of hundred pounds to spend, they had a small shrine to anime with the complete hellsing, FMP, cowboy bebop, Excel saga and even some Final fantasy unlimited (I didn't even know it was licensed).

NEVER buy anime from HMV (normal price = £19.99). Much cheaper to go to Play (normal price = £15 and also has lots of sales- inc. the first few FMPs (damn it- I payed full price!)), the Bebop film etc.
Manga should generally be bought from Amazon however, as that tends to be much cheaper than the £6.99 price labels elsewhere.

I have all of FMP and Hellsing on DVD, amoung other series (but oh the expense!) *surveys bank balance sadly*. Still haven't heard what the Hellsing dubs are like- I wanted to have a quick listen as apparently they're done by English voice actors. I'll be interested to see whether I find them less repulsive than the American character-mutilations!

Looks very good, and I am sure it would look a lot better if it had been scanned. To be precise, what you draw is not anime, rather manga since anime is actually animated manga.

Indeed, and more Naruto-kyubi-controlness.

Omoshiroi!

The last episode of Bleach was also 'sugoi' (). Really enjoyed it.
If you're not following this one you really should give it a go!

When Bleach reaches episode 20 I shall begin watching it, I usually hate having to wait for episodes at the beginning of series.

New PoT released last night. Oh so cheesy but entertaining as usual.

A number of new series are just starting at the moment. Hopefully there'll be a few good ones in a mash
