You could argue that the whole storyline is caused by jealousy resulting from Othello's hubris as a tragic hero.

D's death is caused purely because of jealousy rather than logic from Othello's sense. He is driven by his anger at being cuckolded. Wife's promiscuity reflected on the husband's reputation at the time and other men would judge them for it. Cuckold also has religious imagery linking back to Othello as an other and an outsider which would reinstate his anger for his reputation being damaged.

Iago's jealousy about not getting the rank given to Othello as he believes an other should not be higher up in the hierarchy due to racist views of the time. This sets his plan in motion.

Jealousy drives a wedge in marriage and friendships ( C and O, I and his wife and Othello and D).
