no.

Fuels have to flow easily, package and transport easily and burn cleanly and easily.

Both alkanes and alcohols are used as fuels, but alcohols have the advantage that they are more easily handled and have a much greater density (more bang for your buck).

Natural gas is an alkane - it has widespread use as a fuel
Propane is an alkane - it is used widely as camping gas
Butane is an alkane - it is used as bottled gas for cooking and heating
Petrol is a mixture of alkanes - it finds fairly common use as a fuel.
