Starting a club - ideas please!

So I'm going to be proposing an Ancient Greek/Classics club at school which will be mainly focused on learning the language. So far activities will include etymology, actually doing some grammar and then eventually some translation (if all goes well).
It's intended for year 7 upwards. I need more ideas to make it sound more like a club rather than extra classes if any of you have some!
Thanks

You could do something fun and creative around the art aesthetics or mythology

Aww, this sounds like fun. Since the classics involve lots of plays and tragedy, what if you tried setting up mini enactments of them in the original language (like silly parodies of the Iliad or maybe something easier, depending on the level of difficulty- we did something like this for Frankenstein in an English lesson back in Y9 and I loved it). Maybe you could all also come up with your own poems, research different heroes, retell tales or investigate an area of ancient civilisation (the first thing that came to my head was maybe politics or laws). I don't know too much about classics, but I wish I had an opportunity to learn them in the lower school.

Also, can I ask how you're planning to do this, given the current circumstances? Will it be an online club for now? Did you have to ask permission for this? I've been wondering if I could ask to set up a Y10-11 revision club for English on Teams, since I've enjoyed helping people on TSR with the subject and I know many people struggle with it.

Yes, it's all online and I'm setting it up with a teacher. I'm writing the proposal to send to my form supervisor.
But those are some really cool ideas! Thanks

I guess I'll suggest it to my form tutor the next time we have a virtual form meeting then. Good luck with your club!
