is there a huge exclusion by people who have different political views in uni, I have heard most are left wing, and I am curious about whether i will be excluded from certain groups due to my conservative beliefs .
Depends what you mean by 'conservative', if you are rude or offensive then probably yes. If not it shouldn't be an issue.
essentially the definition of conservatism: a person favouring free enterprise, private ownership, and socially traditional ideas. i just have heard there are many socialists and/or left wing people at uni, as the majority, and some unis its risky to be a conservative and you will be looked at differently.

People generally dislike tories that have discriminatory beliefs e.g if you are racist, classist, sexist etc. rightfully so. What are some of your strong opinions that people might disagree with?

so there is a huge class difference at uni, that was what i was more looking at, not so much sexist and racist ofc not, but in terms of classes, are more well off ppl frowned upon etc by the majority?

most people at russel group unis are higher class and more often than not are the majority class, however as you mentioned the disparity is huge between the classes. people don't really care and aren't bothered enough to hate you just for having money if you're a prick about it then maybe. it's important to note that upbringing affects political opinions more than anything, aligning yourself with conservative values is viewed by many as an elitist and privileged ideology to have, or simply just ignorant! - I agree with this stance, however many of the tories who attend the prestigious unis probably wouldn't.

i agree but i have personally heard if you are at a majority non conservative uni, you are sorta picked on for being 'too privileged' etc. not sure, i guess ill wait till September haha
how can i say what group when i have not experienced it, jesus haha. i guess ill find out but probs ppl from a different class
haha okay; you have nothing to worry about. the only groups at uni are friendship groups which, like everywhere you go, tends to be small clusters of people you get along with; a couple of best friends. if you're a reasonably social person you will definitely make friends because everyone is looking to make friends with someone. course you will naturally gravitate to people you get along with and naturally be excluded from people you have nothing in common with; happens to everyone including those on 'the left' because friendship is based on personality and are you a likable person is more important. for the most part kids only care about grades and/or partying; they don't care if their friends would have voted leave or remain.
re class: i study law and most of my class probably comes from a privileged background. technically i'm the minority because i am working class, but never have i felt excluded (except when law ball comes around which average student spends 100 GBP on while i stay at home). so if you come from privilege you might be in the majority and i wouldn't worry about it. working class kids notoriously don't go to uni if it's any consolation.
