Hertfordshire vs Westminster?

I’m stuck deciding between these two universities, the University of Hertfordshire and the University of Westminster. I’ve been accepted for Biomedical Sciences on an unconditional basis, and was wondering which university is better in terms of rank, social life, teaching, and overall quality?

This isn't my subject, tbh, but I would suggest Westminster because of where it is. You would be close to the main University area and well placed to meet people who work at places like UCH and the Wellcome Collection.

Hi there,
I am at University of Westminster, I study Biological Science and am a second year. I have quite a few friends doing BMS, and we share some modules in 1st and 2nd year. I also did foundation year at Westminster so have been here for 2.5 years. The course at Westminster is excellent. One of the main things you will find at Westminster is that there is a very inclusive and supportive environment. The lecturers are helpful and responsive. Westminster moved to online only teaching last March successfully and the transition has been fairly smooth. They have still managed to arrange "experience days" with limited numbers of students going in to do an experiment and also having it live streamed for the rest.

It's a very diverse and multicultural environment, the SU is very active, dozens of active societies (even during lockdown). One student lot year went on to study a Masters at University of Oxford. Westminster have a Genome Engineering group which is very active and they do pioneering work in gene editing.

Personally it was the right choice for me, I have made many good friends and the standard of teaching is excellent - the lecturers love their field of specialisation.

If you need any other information feel free to message me.

Literally anything you can think of: Bhangra, Salsa, Dance, Theatre, Anime, politics, Tae Kwon Do, MMA, All the sports. Literally endless amount of stuff to do.

The full list is here (over 300 I believe):
https://www.uwsu.com/groups?group_type=societies-3261

Lots of opportunities to get involved with the SU - if you are interested in activism.
There are also schemes like "The Great Start" where new students are allocated a FAN - friend of arriving new Students, which I have now done twice. You can apply to be a student ambassador too.

Also - all the Parks and museums in London, Oxford Street - these are all walking distance from the Uni! you don't even need a bus or tube!
