There's probably a reason that he goes soft sometimes it's a control or confidence thing just talk to him and figure it out together he obviously things your hot so...

I'd speak to him about it, figure out what's causing it. He might need to see a GP.

The best thing is to talk to him about it and let him know how it makes you feel. If he's mature enough, he's reaction will be very understanding.
I also agree with anon above that sex is not what relationships are about, and if such thing makes you very angry, you would definitely be much better of with fwb.
Concentrate on building emotional bound with your bf, it'll make your life better, and sex experience much more pleasant.
