Once this year is done is it possible to skip a year? And return to finish after?

One of my friends did this.

You can take a leave of absence or interrupt your studies (different unis use different terms). You may have to provide a reason for it, e.g. medical leave, financial difficulties, or your uni may just let anyone take a year out.

It depends on your uni but many offer the option, usually you will need to have a reason from a limited list. Do be aware some will charge you a fee to maintain you registered as their student.
