Since you can only apply with one personal statement, would it be possible to apply for, say, biochemistry at one uni and chemistry at another? or do they have to be very similar eg. chemistry vs chemistry w management

Chemistry and biochem are quite similar anyway so I wouldn't worry. I applied in october for just physics at one uni, and physics and chemistry at other unis (my personal statement was like 2/3 phys, 1/3 chem) and I've received offers for both the physics and the phys/chem. They assess your application as a whole, it's not just on personal statement, so I would say go for it!
