Hi everyone, I'm in year 12, and I'm struggling to structure 8 and 16 markers (Psychology) effectively, especially in the 'Outline and Discus' and 'Evaluate' questions. Like how many paragraphs should I be writing, what to include in each paragraph, etc. Thank you!

A 16 marker is two paragraphs of AO1 (description) and four paragraphs of AO3 (evaluation). AO3 can be two strengths and two weaknesses or four strengths or four weaknesses.

An 8 marker is basically half of the 16 marker so one paragraph of AO1 and two paragraphs of AO3 (can also be AO2 if it’s got the scenario). The AO3 in the 8 marker can either be one strength and one weakness or two strengths or two weaknesses.

I'm in year 13 and also struggle with 16 markers lol, but your main focus should be on A03 since the maximum marks for that is 10 and 6 for A01. The point that you mention for A01 (e.g psychodynamic approach - the unconscious mind drives our behaviour) should be linked to the evaluation because you may lose marks if you outline something and then evaluate a different idea for A03.
Aim to write about 4-5 paragraphs. 2 strengths and 2 limitations should give you a strong essay, as well as the outline paragraph.
