IB hire from a range of Russell Group universities. The reason some universities (UCL, Imperial, Warwick etc.) feauture as target / semi-target universities is because these universities offer the best Economics / Maths / STEM courses. Durham is not more prestigious than Manchester - on what basis would it be? It is collegiate, but the colleges are little more than halls of residence with a bit more gloss added on. As long as you do a respectable subject, get good grades, and go to a top 20 UK university, AND build useful skills while you are there, you have as good a chance as most to get into IB.
