The flagellum helps the cell to move through water. Scientists think that the flagellum and the light-sensitive spot work together to increase photosynthesis. Suggest how this might happen

You are oc talking about green plants, i.e. those containing chlorophyll. [a suggest Q usually has a wider scope in the mark scheme] - take it step by step, yeah?

To increase photosynthesis, the chlorophyll needs to absorb more light energy, agreed? So the flagellum could propel the plant e.g. Euglena, to turn it or direct its "light-sensitive spot" in the path of the ambient light, couldn't it? I think that would give you one mark. [how many marks is this Q worth?]. Before that, you could explain how the 9 + 2 microfibril structure of a flagellum might enable the flagellum to beat, so that the "plant" can move [maybe 2nd mark - GOLDEN RULE: "KEEP IT SIMPLE"!].

Be safe!
