Everyone thinks I'm gay when I'm not

Right where shall I start...

The majority of my friends at school thinks I'm homosexual, probably because I never talk about, speak with, or know any girls. I don't mind that, since they're not 100% sure either so my sexual orientation isn't really something we talk about.

Today my sister told me my whole family thinks I'm gay (including her) which is a bit annoying. I haven't spoken to my dad for 2 years so I couldn't care less what he had to say, but whenever I tell the rest of my family that I'm not gay the usual response is sympathy; saying things like "its nothing to be ashamed of".

I think the main issue is me not being able to say I'm straight... I just leave the room if anyone starts talking about it.

Now I'm going to leave my family thinking I'm gay for the timebeing, but I'm slightly confused as to why I come across as a homosexual.

So the solution to this persons problems is to be flogged religion? Those Christians in Africa were right! Although if he converts to Islam, and moves to an Islamic country then realizes he IS gay... think of the issues he would get :p:

My parents went through a stage of thinking I was a lesbian, because I avoided any speech about males, I had some "extremely close" female friends, and I only admitted to having a boyfriend under torture, then they found it unconvincing and thought it may be a girlfriend. I then proved otherwise.

Sit down and talk to your family about it, leaving them thinking you're gay isn't really going to help anything :p:

but if you ask them why they think that, well, you'll get the answer. *shrugs* Though I imagine that would be a bit of an awkward conversation.

people used to think i was gay because so many girls were my mate. then i pulled a well fit girl but then people said oh you were jsut trying to prove yourself. you cant win either way but it wnt last forever!

I'm puzzled as to why you cant say that youre straight? And leaving the room when the topic comes up? Surely you can see why theyre asking questions. If it was me i wouldnt take it so seriously. Youre only young, so dont feel like you have to go find any girl to prove yourself. I think you should set the record straight, by telling them youre straight, end of. If theres any more hassle over it just ignore it or laugh it off.

I know it seems like it, but it's not really a big deal.
If ever people ask, don't get angry or defensive; simply say no I'm not. And that should be that. If they don't beleive you, well, who cares?

When the time comes for anything, it comes. Have you considered whether you're bisexual or not?

And I dated my exboyfriend for 2 years and then within a week of being at Oxford university he came out (after we'd split up). Fab. So, it doestake time to manifest and I don't think everybody could say they are definately straight or definately gay.

If you're not at all interested in sexual relationships then have considered whether or not you may be asexual?
