Economics - Industrial Revolution - agents

I am wanting a bit of clarification on what I'm being asked of. The more I think about the question, the more I confuse myself.

My assessment is based on 'consumers and banks' and it's asking me to outline the contributions of consumers in the Industrial Revolution in Great Britain.

Can someone clarify to me what it means by consumers? I'm not sure if it has to be linked to banks of if it means consumers in industries in general, in that specific period. (late 1700s and early 1800s)
