Can I just clarify that you are talking about someone who has been accepted to do a degree at a university in California, not an exchange year/year abroad?

If we are indeed talking about him going to do his degree at a Californian university, the only loans he would be able to get would be private loans where he would typically need a US citizen to co-sign. They also have very high interest rates and will need to be paid back as soon as the student graduates, regardless of if he has a job yet and how much it pays, unlike loans through the UK govt which British students typically get.

How much is the difference between the scholarship and the cost of attendance at the university in California? Could you as a family cover it?

Hi thanks for your reply... i sort of had an idea that was the case. We are still trying to get a final figure of what there is left to pay so hopefully we could cover it . I just wanted to put it out there to see if there was any finance company that offered a facility to do this.

What university is it? They should have next year's cost of attendance on their website.

Congrats on your son's admission and scholarship!
