you must eat over 1200 calories a day to maintain a high metabolism
eating breakfast kick starts it so it's a vital meal
regular excersize keeps the metabolism up to speed
also, drinking 5 cups of green tea can burn an extra 150 calories per day

Apparently citrus fruits are supposed to help with that. I don't know, but I know that the 'skinny' fruit smoothies sold near my work have citrus fruits in them - to help burn fat  Well try it out anyway, it could help. Not that you prolly need to worry :p:

It's mostly genetics, but supposedly eating certain foods (as mentioned, as well as spicy foods) boosts it. Drinking water, eating often etc etc etc.

Excercise also apparently does as your body builds more muscle and has to use more energy to maintain and move the muscles because they're heavier.

Despite this, doing any of these things never did anything for me....I know people go on about metabolism but I don't think it changes all that easily...

Genetics determine metabolism for the most part. But people who don't have naturally high metabolism should build up muscle, since muscle burns a lot of fat to maintain itself. Also drink more water, and eat breakfast.

exercise makes it higher temporarily. if you do say 30 minutes of high intensity workout in the morning, you will have a higher metabolism for the rest of the day. Some people naturally have higher metabolisms (ecto i think) and some have lower ones.

high intensity would be like sprint for 20 seconds, jog for 20 seconds, rest for 20 seconds in a minute, for 20 minutes (I think?). it's very very hard if you try properly but its funny when you can actually feel the difference later in the day..
