The Official 03/04 UCAS Application Progress Tracker Thread

As a follow up to the "Where have you applied to?" thread, this one will keep up with how your applications are progressing.

Please feel free to keep us informed with any offers you recieve - which should be in the following format:

•

Institution

Course Applied For

Offer (Number of Points or Grade Specifics)

What chances do you feel you have of achieving the terms of this offer ?

Also we would like to know how when you get interviews.

As a reference point, I would now like to keep a ready reckoner for you of the deadlines:

•

1st September - Opening day for Applications

•

15th October - Closing Date for Applications to Oxbridge, medicine, dentistry, or vet. med/ vet. science

•

1st Janaury 04 - First date to recieve Art & Design Route B applications

•

15th January - Advisory closing date for UK Applications

•

5th March - Advisory closing date for Art & Design Route B applications

•

30 June - Final Date for Submitting UCAS Extra applications before clearing

•

19 August - Clearing Opens

•

24 September - Final Date for Applications through Clearing

Important
If you recieve the response of your final University (AS6F) by date 1 you must reply with a decision of "Firm/Insurance/Offer Declined" by date 2

31 March 2004 - 28th April 2004

•

10 May 2004 - 7th June 2004

•

18th June 2004 - 7th July 2004

Missing these deadlines puts your place at risk.

Please stick to the format, any general chit-chat can be kept to the forum, we want this just so we can follow people's progress, and so you can see what sort of time scale / how quickly the Universities are responding with offers etc.

Paper Trail

Confirmation Card
If you have sent off your application by post, you should soon afterwards recieve back your confirmation card which says that they have recieved your application.
YOU DO NOT REQUIRE THIS IF YOU ARE USING ELECTRONIC OR THE APPLY ROUTES OF APPLICATION.

AS2
Confirmation Letter - This document from UCAS confirms the courses and institutes to which you have applied, as well as your Online Enquiry Password, which allows you to track your progress.

Acknowledgements
These will come from each University, thanking you for applying to them, they will get back to you in the near future with their offer details, both on their letter headed paper, and by AS3 (below)

AS3
Offer Letter - These documents are what UCAS send to you with each an University replies to you with an offer. It may contain a rejection, a conditional offer, or unconditional offer.

AS6-F
Final Offer & Reply Slip
This is the document which contains the response from your last University to make a decision on making you an offer - at the bottom will be a slip to which you must reply, within the allocated deadline, with your decision on which to accept as Conditional Firm, and Conditional Insurance, Declines, (or indeed just an Unconditional Firm - if you are really lucky).

AS9
Audit Statement
This comes after you have made your decision on CF, CI, UF, D, and confirms your current position.

More Acknowledgements
Universities will now reply to you telling you that they appriciate you choosing them as Firm/Insurance, and will invite you up on their post-application open days. It is a good idea to go to these.

AS10 - Clearing Entry Form
If you do not succeed in making your offers for Firm or Insurance, you will be sent one of these.

AS12 - Confirmation of Place
Alternatively if you have reached made your offer, you will be sent one of these, to fill in and return to UCAS as SOON AS POSSIBLE.

AS18 - Acceptance in Clearing
This letter from UCAS is what you recieve should you be successful in gaining a place at an institution through clearing.

also applied to Edinburgh, Birmingham and Oxford for Physics.

Has anyone else (especially if doing Physics) applied to / heard from any of these Unis?

Just to let you know, I'm doing Physics at Birmingham, so if you want to know anything about what the course is like here, etc, just ask :smile:

1) When was your application processed?
2) What course(s) have you applied for?
3) When did you hear from the uni's you have got offers from and which uni's are they?
4) Are you applying pre or post A level?
5) Where are you still waiting to hear from?

1) My application was sent on October the 15th from Hong Kong electronically!
2) I applied for the BEng Civil Engineering 4 Year Sandwich Course: Bath, Bradford, Cardiff, Loughborough, Nottingham and Portsmouth
3) Bradford = 30 Oct
Cardiff = 4 Nov
Loughborough = 6 Nov
4) dunt understand tat que, my bad
5) still waiting from nottingham, bath and portsmouth

I doubt it, probably won't be like a proper interview or anything. I didn't apply for Physics (applied for Computer Science, but changed to Physics before I got here).

Hi! I've applied to both St Andrews and Durham. All I've heard from Durham is that letter that everyone else seems to have had saying that offers/rejections may take a longer time. I haven't heard a thing from St Andrews yet; I'm applying to read Psychology. I also haven't heard from Bristol, Nottingham or York- great!

Heya, I've applied for psychology at Durham and York too! I don't think I stand a chance against you though, with 4 A's at A2 level in science subjects! I haven't heard anything either, but I've had 3 offers from other universities so I won't be too upset if one or both of them reject me. Would you let me know when you've had a decision from either of them? Thanks!

Just been rejected by Uea! Sooooooo upset! its the one i wanted. got offer from keele though. had thought that if i didnt get uea i would reject all and go thru clearing but maybe not a good idea! oooohhhhh i'm really stressed out. what do people think of keele? got an offer from essex too the other day. got no hope of nottingham or lancaster then either.

Don't give up hope, maybe you'll get an offer from Lancs or Nott :smile:

I really liked Keele when I visited, but was kind of horrified when the person showing us around the accommodation said it was 24 people per kitchen. I'm hoping she was just badly informed, lol. What course do you want to do? Keele has a good choice of dual honours courses, that's why I applied. It's not got the best academic record, but its by no means the worst.

thanks you guys for your support. it's american studies. i'm not holding any hope for nott/lancaster. their standard offers are higher than i got predicted. i'm so determined to get higher than i got predicted. i have 3 private totors and all have said i'm quite capable of getting a's and b's but my previous grades havent reflected this because i never had faith in myself and clearly my teachers havent!
