Hopefully everything eases down by the end of this year.

Honestly, I don't think you can take this stuff into consideration. This year was pretty different to last year, and next year will probably be different too.

Best case scenario, the covid restrictions might be gone, or heavily relaxed, by September. While there's no guarantee, that's the optimistic scenario. Plus, I assume you've got at least 3 years. Even if you can't go out this year, there's still next year.

More on track for your question, it really depends on what you like. Clubbing and sports were pretty much destroyed, yes. You could meet up with people during certain parts of the year, but it was still kinda rubbish. However, a lot of hobbies could happen online instead, so there's still stuff to do if you look for it. Plus you still have whoever counts as your "household" to actually interact with, though what counts as a household in university halls was somewhat debatable.
I agree with all your points. However online is not the same thing. The human to human contact is sooo different. I talk to my friend through IG but when I met up with him to go on a run or just to talk about current issues after the activity there was a whole different vibe. Even when im playing chess online. The experience is just not comparable when in person which is why im hoping that the vaccines are effective against the strands of covid. I also thing that we are delaying the inevitable in the sense that if this continues onwards (Covid restrictions) peoples mental health problems will in itself become an epidemic and also other issues such as the economy affecting everything. I also feel that the government only has so much control now. People are really fed up and if the vaccines don't work it will inevitably throw public trust of the government's policy's to 0. It will give the impression that even with all these lockdowns and vaccines that the virus is still a problem and that we would be better off not even bothering. Hopefully this doesnt occur but I can see it happening. Also i think that the government knows that once summer hits within the UK that people will not follow the restrictions as you would expect e.g people going to the beech in droves, people going to other peoples houses for socialising and parties etc in hidden locations.
