Newcastle Uni Partners programme

Does anyone know if you can take a standard offer from Newcastle even if they have offered you a partners offer? - ie. I don't want to firm Newcastle uni but put it as my insurance choice and understand that means I won't get a reduced offer

Hi zoe.mia.I,

I've checked this over with our PARTNERS team and they have shared that students who have received a PARTNERS offer are welcome to put Newcastle as their insurance choice it just means that their offer will revert automatically to the typical offer instead. Hope this helps  If you have any further questions, you can get in touch with our PARTNERS team at [email protected] or ask away here and I'll do my best to help.

Thanks!

Hi I would just like to ask how this affects the summer school, can I still attend if I want or is it only for firm applicants? Thank you

Hi Anonymous,

To be eligible for the summer school, applicants must make Newcastle University their firm choice (CF) through UCAS when they make their final decision. You can find out more about eligibility and essential conditions via our webpage here.

Hope this helps

Would you still get your contextual offer or just normal offer?

Would it go down to your contextual offer or standard offer. Also, what happens if you sign up but decide not it turn up?

Hi @fraser123456

For the 2023 application cycle, if you apply through PARTNERS and place Newcastle as your Insurance choice, you would lose your reduced offer and our admissions team would then adjust your offer accordingly, in most cases this would revert back to the ‘typical’ grades for your chosen course but this is not a guarantee.

If you are also eligible for a contextual offer, the PARTNERS offer would in most cases revert to a contextual offer.

At Newcastle we review three pieces of information as part of contextual offers:

·Home Postcode
·Care experience
·Free school meals

If you are eligible based on at least one of the above criteria, the Admissions Team may use this information to make you a contextual offer, which will be up to two grades lower than the typical offer for the Programme to which you have applied.

You can find out more about contextual offers here.

100% attendance at the PARTNERS Academic Summer School (PASS) is compulsory as successful completion would make up part of your offer to study at Newcastle University.

We can only make exceptions in cases of personal circumstances where evidence is provided, for example in the form of a doctor’s note. PASS 2024 will take place between Sunday 30 June to Friday 5 July.

If you apply through PARTNERS but do not attend PASS, as above, you would lose your lower PARTNERS offer. In most cases, this would revert to a standard offer or a contextual offer if the applicant is eligible, but this is not guaranteed.

I hope this helps 😊

Hi Anonymous #2 and @fanatical-mound

Applicants who apply and are eligible for the PARTNERS programme are guaranteed a place on the PARTNERS programme, as long as they have applied by the deadline. Applications to PARTNERS from Medicine or Dentistry applicants have a deadline of 16 October 2023. The UCAS and PARTNERS deadline for all other courses during the 2023/24 admissions cycle is 31 January 2024.*

Our PARTNERS Team will review all applications to PARTNERS to ensure applicants are eligible for the programme.

Hope this helps

Hi, I was just wondering if this means that if you apply to PARTNERS you won't hear back until after January?

Hi @Mr.Goose27,

Thank you for your question.

My colleague was referring to the UCAS equal consideration deadline on the 31st January 2024 at 18:00. The deadline to submit the PARTNERS Application Form is also on the same day. You can find out further information about applying to PARTNERS here.

Once a referee has verified a PARTNERS application, we will aim to let the applicant know if they have been accepted on to the PARTNERS Programme within 20 working days.

After this the Undergraduate Admissions Team will be able to process their application. Please note that acceptance on to the PARTNERS Programme does not guarantee an offer of study from the University. An offer may only be made once the Admissions Team have fully reviewed an application.

I hope this helps.
