Spending the night in police cells...

...should I try it? It seems like an experience everyone should have. You know, just so that I can say in conversations "Oh yeah, I spent a night in the cells once". Or I can say to my kids "don't get arrested - police cells are nasty, I should know because I've been there."

Do you think it's a good idea to try them out? And if you do - should I commit a minor crime... or just go to the station and say "Hey, how about throwing me in the cells for a night?"

...I'm so bored.

Go streaking or play with fireworks in a quiet neighbourhood. If you're going to get arrested (you stupid fool =P), at least make it interesting.

Lol. For some reason, I kind of know what you mean...

Yeah totaleeee:biggrin:. Just get really drunk one night an stagger in and pee in the corner of the reception. :p:

A bit odd, but never mind...

If you want it purely as an experience, just go for drunk and disorderly.

And for good character building, make sure the nearest police station is Paddington Green.

I've been considering how to get arrested and not charged... and drunkeness seemed the obvious option. BUT - I want to have a clear head for my stay. I want to be able to remember the funny little phrases on the walls and the smell of piss and vomit.

Streaking and playing with fireworks seem like good options. Though pretending to be drunk and pissing in the police station might work.

It's just one of these things I need to do, because I don't like talking down on things unless I've done them. I can't say "getting arrested is bad" until I've been arrested. It's along the same lines as the time I read the whole bible just so that I could say with authority that organised religion is a heap of crap.

If you really want to do something AT the police station, streak, or tell really awful 'your mom' jokes even when they tell you to stop, take a baseball bat with you and insist you're a cop, tell them you raped your rabbit and now you're feeling guilty, poo at the door, start screaming obscenities. Again, make it original.

You don't get a record for spending the night in cells my friend, hence my wanting to do something night-in-cells worthy without an actual charge attached to it.

This is where being drunk is he only real option... they'll just give you your breakfast in the morning and let you go home. Streaking and stuff is a bit of a gamble. If someone's in a bad mood they'll 'make an example' and charge you.
Those things are just going to get you a caution...

No, I say drunk and disorderly.

What if they do a breath test? Like I said I want to remember the experience for my whole life, a story to tell the grandkids and all that. If they test me and it's like "Hmm... blood alcohol level: zero" it might raise a few questions.

I was told, in a drunken state, that they would take me to the cells if I couldn't walk straight. My bf propped me up and I put one leg in front of the other. They kept asking me his name and insisted on taking me home though - I think they thought he had drugged me

If you're convincing enough to warrant attention, you won't get one.

I don't think they can give you one anyway. It's anti social to be bladdered in public, but not strictly illegal. The only reason they lock up drunks if for their own safety...

But if they do, just swig beer in front of them. Your breath'll be alcoholy, but you only need to drink one mouthful. Plus they'll assume you're drunk if you drink in front of them.

Like I said, go for Paddington Green. My dad was wasted when he got chucked in there for drunk and disorderly, and he still remembers that night well...

...was he made into someone's "special friend"? I thought that only happened in prison.

Well, if he was, he doesn't remember that bit...

Paddington Green is fairly old, high security, and it's just one huge cell.

Everyone shares. Ain't that sweet?

Unless that's all changed now

Nah, in fact if you're locked up for being drunk you can just conveniently not have any ID on you, and use a *******s name. Or just be 'too drunk' to tell them it. No one will check and they'll send you home in the morning. In fact, you'd probably HAVE to not know your details because they'd just take you home otherwise and you'd miss the police cell fun.

Yeeeaaah... that would be something to add to the story. "I gave a large hairy man a handjob".

I've spent a few hours in a police cell before. I just had a sleep for 4 hours. They even gave me a plastic mat.

Sadly it was not overnight and I was out by 6pm.
