Hi, I'm doing Sociology GCSE and I'm finding it very interesting but I'm not sure if I want to do it at A Level. Is it an A Level that universities value? Also, what sort of things would you cover in sociology for uni?

Hi Lizzie,

Sociology is a great A Level to do as it provides you with lots of insight into the way society works and helps you to develop the critical thinking skills that are really important for studying a social sciences or humanities degree at university. That said, you don't need to have studied Sociology at A Level to take it at university.

Sociology at university level is a much broader and more diverse subject than at GCSE or A Level so it's worth looking at the different modules you can take at universities you're interested in. The modules at Winchester are all listed on our course page with a brief explanation of what they cover: https://www.winchester.ac.uk/study/u...ons-sociology/
You'll see some familiar topics from GCSE, like the family and crime, where we go much deeper. But there are also plenty of new and exciting topics, like disability, the environment, social movements, and even beauty.

I hope that answers your questions but if not feel free to come back to me.
