Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Auditions 2021

Hello! I was wondering how long it took for everyone to hear back from RCS regarding their self-tape audition? Will UCAS Conservatoires let you know of any updates, or did you receive an email from the school to notify you of a recall? Many thanks 😊

Think it’s different for everyone, I’ve not heard anything back yet at all and I sent my application away 2 weeks ago. Whereas there are other people who have already been emailed with decisions. I think it’s more likely that the school will email you since there will probably be recalls etc so they probably won’t change anything in UCAS unless they have made their final decision after recalls.

Thank you so much for your help. I wish you all the best with auditions - break a leg!

I'm also applying this year!
I sent my self-tape over two weeks ago and still nothing, I suppose that's a good sign. I think the school is emailing people. I've seen they have got to some people for the MA auditions (they had a longer deadline) but I've seen nothing been discussed about the BA self-tapes as of yet. The admin team said we should hear back by the end of February with results which means we should hear within a few weeks. Fingers crossed for us.

I’ve had an email quite recently saying we can expect to hear back mid-April for BA audition outcomes. I think they must have to keep pushing their dates back for the panel to have more time or something - I feel like the waiting process is so difficult at the moment with everything going on. Thank you for your response and I hope all of your auditions go well!

Yeah I got the same email a few weeks ago. I was panicking as I thought they sent the result through their admissions but turns out it’s UCAS.

I am fine with the waiting game as I can focus on other things for now.

I received an email directly from the school two weeks ago notifying me of my recall, so they will contact you directly before updating your UCAS if you've gone on to the next round. If you get rejected I think they'll just update your UCAS. They rejected me after final round last year, and just seeing the word "unsuccessful" on my UCAS application with no other explanation was kind of a punch in the gut after 4 rounds and over 6 weeks of waiting... So yeah, they're a great school but not very good at rejecting people imo.

I just got rejected yesterday :/ sucks to find out on UCAS after all the effort and time but I guess they just get so many applicants that it’s easiest to do it that way, still hurts though 🤣

I got rejected as well, don’t worry!!

They left a message in unsuccessful for you, if you haven’t opened it on UCAS. I’ve got a place at university for a BA in a drama related subject, so I’m not that upset. I just brushed it off.

I know what you mean - it literally does feel like a punch in the gut when you get a rejection message. That’s amazing that you go so far though! I know it’s so easy to say but don’t beat yourself up about it, you’ve honestly done brilliantly. Thank you for replying and wishing you all the best with everything!

Does anyone have any further information regarding the RCS BA Acting process? I'm an international student and have made it all the way to the final round audition, which I attended March 18; it went well, but I'm still waiting for a response and it's the middle of April.

When prompted about two weeks ago, they responded that I received a Reserved Conditional place (the only conditions being two recommendation letters and that I graduate High School), and that they were still administering auditions, and they'd let me know as soon as they finished up---so basically my decision was that they haven't made a decision yet. I'm happy I haven't been rejected, as they've still expressed interest in me! I'm just feeling rather blind, especially since the deadline for most American colleges to commit is May 1st.

Hey - did you hear any more about this! And did they update your UCAS/other application portal? I’ve been waiting since early April

Hi! It is June 13th and I still do not know whether I have been accepted or not. Originally, when I first received my Reserved Conditional decision, my UCAS was updated to reflect that. I sent them my diploma and made sure my teachers sent them my recommendation letters, so then my UCAS status for RCS was updated to say "The conservatoire is satisfied from the information you have given, that you have already met the conditions for entry and is offering you a place on their reserve list." I know they are fairly swamped dealing with the surplus of applicants (3,000 as opposed to 2,000), so due to their workload it is hard to tell when they will release decisions. I know with universities on UCAS they had the deadlines of dishing out responses by June 5th, I think it is safe to say that the conservatories do not adhere to that; do you know when it is expected to hear back from them? Please let me know if any changes occur!

Hey thanks for the response - I am in the same boat. Bar an email on May 18th saying they were taking time to carefully consider the decision, I have not heard anything.

However, I have found others online who have both been rejected and given offers (some way back in April) so I am presuming I am on some kind of reserve list. Was tempted to phone them and ask but I decided just to leave it since UCAS deadline is soon.

Speaking of which, the UCAS Conservatoires deadline is later than the normal university one - they have until July 9th to give you a decision. Only a few weeks away now but yeah, would be nice to have a bit more communication….
