Student Finance during Year Abroad

I am currently in my second year of studying French, which means that I am required to spend the third year of my degree in a French-speaking country. I have read that students are usually eligible for support from Student Finance during their year abroad, but I am not sure if I am eligible for this because I had studied a different course at a different university for a year before I changed universities and began my French course. Ultimately, I am concerned about potentially receiving funding for the year abroad but being ineligible for funding in my fourth and final year of my degree. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
