Help!!!!! Don’t understand why the level is 1/4 of original value the displacement previously is 40mm now x=25mm. I understand is decrease as velocity decrease due to smaller displacement but I don’t understand why me decrease by 1/4.
Kinetic energy is equal to 1/2mv^2

Since the velocity decreased by a factor of 2, the kinetic energy is reduced by a factor of 2 squared. (Kinetic energy is proportional to velocity squared)
