Hi. I’m studying Biology Chemistry and Geography at A level and thinking about studying something Geography-related at Uni. Because covid I didn’t sit GCSEs and was handed a mixed bag of 7s and 8s (probably would have done better but sat early mocks and my school just awarded our mock results) and I am not getting on too well with remote learning so could be looking at ABB or even BBB/C at A level on a worst case.
For geography itself I’m looking at Glasgow (looks great) and Exeter (but likely grades probably mean Penryn not main campus) or Loughborough (put off by non-Russell group a bit). Alternatively there is a Marine Geography course at Cardiff that looks really good and offers BBb to those with science a levels. Or I could look at Marine bio/oceanography at Southampton but that may be a stretch.
Any views from anyone who knows these courses would be much appreciated. Are there other unis/courses you think I should look at? Is Glasgow as good as it looks?
Thanks very much

Yeah that makes sense, which course are you thinking of applying to? I'm leaning more towards a BA than a BSC

Hi Morganmaestro :hello:

It's great that you're considering studying Geography at Loughborough!

Our BA and BSc programmes provide a broad foundation in Year 1 and allow you to increasingly specialise in human geography (BA) or physical geography (BSc), or maintain a balance of both, in subsequent years. We also have a range of joint and combined honours courses. Furthermore, all our courses offer the opportunity to complete a year on placement in the UK or abroad, or study at a European or international partner university.

You can find out more on our website.

Whilst Loughborough is not a member of the Russell Group, we rank highly in our Geography offering as you will see here. We are also a top 10 university in every national league table, ranking higher than quite a few Russell Group universities! Also, all our eligible geography courses (BA Geography; BSc Geography; BSc Geography with Economics) are accredited by the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG).

For more information about what we have to offer at Loughborough, check out our online prospectus

All the best,
-Dan
