Phenol is acidic because it’s not very soluble in water and it can only fully dissolve when sodium hydroxide solution is added.

Alcohols are less acidic because the alkoxide ion is less stable than the phenoxide ion on the phenol, and also because in an alkoxide ion, the negative charge is localised on the oxygen atom, whereas in the phenoxide ion, the negative charge is delocalised over the benzene ring, so having a benzene ring in phenol helps it remain stable even after the hydrogen ion is removed. So the more stable the ion is, the more likely it is to form and more acidic it is.

Hope this helps
