analysing an unseen prose

anyone have any top tips/ and lists of things to look out for when analysing a prose passage? is there anything that is particularly key to reaching the top marks or any techniques that are particularly good to look out for? i’m taking CIE igcse english lit if that makes any difference.
First think about the overall theme/tone and motifs that support that in relation to the question. Things you can comment on: narrator, character development, dialogue/descriptive passages, paragraph and sentence structure, imagery. Think about what stands out in the passage and how to most effectively tie it to the question. Don’t just describe, focus on the effect on the reader and alternative interpretations.
