3 year residency proof

Hi, I am a student in england and have received my indefinite leave to remain just a few weeks ago.

I was just wondering what proof would be sufficient to prove I have been ordinarily resident for 3 years. I have bank statements going back a year or so, but beyond that point I only have letters from the NHS saying I was registered in a local clinic, and letters from my school saying I went there. Will that do? If not, what else could I need?

(Of course I also have stamps in my passport if that will also suffice)

Hi there,

In order to determine your eligibility, please confirm:

1. Which university and course you are looking to start your studies with?
2. How old you are.
3. Your nationality, current status and time spent within the UK.
4. Any previous study and qualifications you may hold.

Thanks, Isaac

Hi, sorry for creating the duplicate thread.

1. I have a place at cambridge for engineering in 2021
2. I have taken a gap year so am currently 18 and will turn 19 before my course starts in September 2021
3. I am Indian (with an Indian passport) but have indefinite leave to remain, and have been in the UK for 5 years and 4 months now
4. I have no previous degrees, but have done my GCSE and A-levels

You are eligible to apply as a SFE home student. You don't need to provide physical evidence of your residency.
We will ask to see that you have had valid status for 3 years. We can accept your home office biometric residence permit card as ID and as proof of status.
Thanks, Isaac

Thank you so much for your help Isaac.
Is it okay if I have received my ILR in the past few weeks, and have not had it for the past 3 years?

You need 3 years of valid status from 01/09/2018 to 01/09/2021.
So as long as you gained your ILR before 01/09/2021 and as long as you had valid status before you gained ILR then you should be eligible.

However this means your biometric residency card won't show 3 years of status, if you were awarded it a few weeks ago, it's only going to show that it was awarded in February 2021 which will cover 02/2021 - 09/2021, we will need you to provide valid status evidence that covers from 01/09/2018 up until the day you were awarded ILR.

We can accept home office letters that shows what your status was.
Thanks, Isaac

Between Sep 2018 and Feb 2021 I was on a visa, and had to give my old BRP card back to the government recently. As such, I don't think I have any physical copies of that evidence, but I do have photocopies of my old BRP card as well as visa stamps in my passport. Will that suffice?

We don't accept photocopies.

If you can't provide evidence then we can do our own checks with the home office, but this can take longer as the home office can sometimes take longer than usual to reply especially during the current pandemic.

Okay, thank you.

Just a final question, and then I will stop bothering you. How long would you estimate that process of asking the home office taking? Would it be done by September, essentially?

I would just be worried if I did not have the finance situation confirmed before I started university.

Thank you for everything Isaac, you have been very helpful

Ask as many questions as you need, I'm here to help you

I wouldn't like to state a timescale but I would hope that it's no longer than a month.
You should apply for your finance early next month so everything can be resolved well before September.
Thanks, Isaac
