RCSI is definitely better for matching to US residencies compared to UCLan. Ireland has one of the highest matching rates after (obviously the US), Canada and Caribbean Islands and it's better known internationally compared to UCLan. UCLan is really good if you plan on entering the NHS and continuing your studies in the UK because your qualifications isn't going to be much different from the other 30 UK medical schools. But if you strictly plan on returning to the US, I'd pick RCSI. If you're worried about social life and stuff, have you considered UCD, Trinity, Cork or Galway?
thanks a lot for your response! I'm not too sure if I want to go to the US after or stay in the UK. I don't currently live in the UK but have a British passport. Do you know about the outcomes for RCSI students applying for GMC jobs? The reason I was worried about social life is because I'm quite a social person and I've seen the sociability of universities in the UK. Going to RCSI would be a totally new experience and i would not like to be lonely. I have applied to Trinity but sadly missed the deadline for UCD because I never really thought i would consider Ireland properly (Ireland for me is basically a pathway to keep my options open if i want to go to the US) I also got put on the waitlist for UEA, do you know how that compared to RCSI internationally? I really, really appreciate your help, thanks a lot

Hey!! i’m from the UAE and got my interview offer yesterday! i’m really nervous but i heard it’s really friendly and as long as you answer with passion you’re good since all the questions are basic (why medicine why rcsi what are ur hobbies how will u settle in ireland). I’m just scared of the rumors i heard that there might be bias toward the irish people regarding grades but i’m not sure that’s just what i read on another post

hey!! i did my interview 2 days ago but they were really chill, they mainly asked about why rcsi, why you want to do medicine, any experience with hospital attachments, and what your plans are for the future (residency, specialisation etc). but other than that it was just a really nice conversation with the interviewer! good luck !!

you will know all of this is in the terms and conditions once u receive the conditional offer, every uni has a different stance regarding the deposit and whether it will be refunded or not if u meet the offer.
