Rejected from City University?

Hi,

I applied to City Uni and for no reason they updated my UCAS track Application saying I had been “either rejected, withdrawn or that the course is full” why could this be ?? I didn’t even get an interview with them or anything.. other students in my class have had interviews with them and received an offer..

This is really disappointing as that was my insurance choice. Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated!

Probably too many applicants going for the same course, from the looks of it! Do you meet the entry requirements for the course?- that could be another reason. You could always appeal, if you really want an offer from them.

Hey, Thanks for replying!

How would I go about appealing the decision? I have KCL as my first choice but I’ve not heard back from them so I’m getting a bit worried. I think I do want to appeal just to have it as a backup.

I’m on an access course and yes my grades do match the requirements. I’m just confused as I applied on time (according to UCAS), so surely I’m entitled to an interview at least?

Hi Laura,

Yes I do 😊

They have probably rejected you simply because your application has scored lower than other applicants.
In which case you have no right of appeal.

Oh, I guess the course will have just been oversubscribed this year so they had to turn away applicants who met the entry requirements :frown:

Not particularly sure to be honest. But if you go onto City's website, there is a section about appeals and what happens.

That is for Current Students appealing exam grades.

That’s not the case as there are others with lower grades than me who have received an offer.

And do City read Personal Statements for this course, also assess GCSEs, make Contextual offers etc etc?

I suggest you just contact City and ask for feedback - guessing and getting peeved on TSR isnt going to get you the answer.

I have already done so, thanks to the others who have kindly given their input and offered helpful advice instead of closed responses.

No one is guessing or getting “peeved off” either so I don’t know where that’s come from.
