I've been at Hertford a term, and nobody seems to care.

Same here, eve nif there is quite a lot of anti-Oriel banter.
On the other hand, Trinity-Balliol eminty appears alive and well, with a few signs being nicked and one student having to escape from the clutches of the porters by claming over the college walls in the dark. I'm also fairly confident Lincoln nicked something from Exeter at some point in 1st or 2nd week, but I'm not sure what it was and whether Exeter either noticed or cared.

Lincoln has a traditional rivalry with Brasenose dating back (supposedly) to several hundred years ago when Lincoln shut the gates on a Brasenose student and left him to be beaten up by an angry mob of townspeople.
However it is all very light-hearted and although I would say there is friendly competition between many of the colleges and several have traditional rivals, I don't think there are too many sinister inter-college wars any more!

That's just what I've come across though, so I may just be missing it all

Ummm, don't remember us targeting Exeter...in fact I'm 98% certain we didn't - we have nothing against Exeter, they're our neighbours!!!

Brasenose on the other hand (like Simon said) are our arch enemies and items have been "borrowed" by certain college members. The same is true for Queen's and Hertford - we'll we have nothing against them, but things were indeed borrowed! I also recall a 1st year rower suggesting we should declare war on Jesus as they broke one of our blades recently.....but nothing happened.

Generally, college rivalry is all very light-hearted fun and seen as practical jokes rather than hatred-fuelled blood battles!!! Indeed, most people know who they're at "war" with (or maybe that's just us at Lincoln as we take our JCR meeting's so light-heartedly!) and some may even get involved in "attacks" on other colleges, but it really isn't anything more serious :p:
oxymoron

Killed, in fact, so I hear. It's been long-standing but we only actually declared war last year.

War does seem to pass some colleges by entirely, but with others - Balliol-Trinity, Exeter-Jesus, ChCh-Pembroke - it's very much alive.

lol, in the article's list of rivalries:

CHRIST CHURCH V THE REST

Cause of Conflict
...Christ Church
no one likes oriel, but then oriel doesn't like anyone either. except christ church; they're jolly nice chaps...

Interesting that you are all using the oxstu website. Incidentally, it is due for an overhaul (see the ad/image at the left).
why!? i actually like the OxStu website, better than cherwell's.
It's really hard to maintain - the content is undoubtedly better, but there's little things like you click "What's on" and then click "Ox2" and it gives an error, but if you click "Home" then "Ox2", it works fine!

The new one will be cool
I got told by a friend in Balliol, that if I applied to Trinity, he would never speak to me again. So I am pretty sure that rivalry is still up and running

Are you the new Online Editor? I ran OxStu website in my 1st yr, then Cherwell last Trinity which was an utter nightmare to maintain, I like their revamp.

there was a rather fetching 'trinity blow goats' crest adorning the angel and greyhound meadow for quite a long time last year...*points at balliol*

No, I work for OSSL.
Queens - Teddy Hall is a big rivalry. We've been warned by the provost that anyone carrying Hall property into Queens will be fined, after we nicked their darts board, pool balls, clock and several signs - they complained.
Well we've got our plans

As Pembrokian and part of the big 3 when it comes to rivalries (along with Christ Church and Oriel), we're hoping to relight some old fires. We'll get you back for our cat damnit!!!

Mansfield doesn't really have any college rivalries, but we have international rivalries - our JCR declared war on America last year
