Cardiff or Liverpool??

Hi,

I have offers from Cardiff, Liverpool and Newcastle to study maths and statistics starting this year.

I am mainly deciding between Cardiff and Liverpool but if anyone knows something about Newcastle that would be great too .

Socialising and partying is a big aspect for me, but I also want a uni that looks good to employers and had a good reputation.

If anyone knows anything about these unis it would really help me decide 😊

Thank you!!

I've studied at Cardiff for a few years and if socialising is your things, this is a perfect place to come to.

Of course it's not that hyped at the moment and I'm sure once things start to return to normal you'll enjoy it. The accommodation is close to town so it's pretty easy to hang out with mates at night too.

Cardiff is a great student city and safer than Liverpool. Both maths depts are mid-ranking so nothing in it from that angle. Cardiff is the capital of Wales so is a much livelier city than Liverpool because of that status alone.

Hi there,

Glad to see you are considering studying at the University of Liverpool (great choice!), I see that you mention that a great social life is an important part of your consideration.

So I thought I'd give you some of my experiences of studying at the University of Liverpool, I felt that the nightlife here was one the best aspects of the city. So it is highly varied city, it has everything from independent warehouse clubs (like 24 Kitchen Street), to arena size venues (e.g. Echo Arena and Bramley Moore Docks) to the chain clubs/bars. THis means there really is some fun nightlife for everyone, overall I have found the local to be really friendly, and always up for a fun night. I can of course tell you much more about the nightlife and student life in the city, so make sure you can ask away below

The second part your choice (i.e. ensuring the University has a good reputation) is also well met by Liverpool, since we are a red brick University who students are targetted for recruitment by many major employers. Again, if you have anything specific you would like to know on this aspect then ask away.
