So you’re saying I have to pay tax as a student who’s broke , and only working for two months not the whole year? Surely my yearly salary will be very little

but you are working in the UK
your degree is subsidised by the government anyways
you use the NHS, public roads, police ect.

Yes, any tax overpayment will be rebated at the end of the financial year.

As another has said, if your income is more than the £12,500 stated, or whatever the tax-free threshold is, then you pay a tax on it.
