Hey there! I am new to the UK university system and I would like to know how can I register on optional modules? The system automatically register us for the core modules, but we have to register for the optional ones ourselves and I don't know how to do it. Any advice?

It will vary by uni although I’d imagine you get an email about it.
For my uni, I had a link emailed to me (there was another way to find it through one of the tabs on blackboard but I can’t remember which) and it provided the overview of each module.
There was then a different section of blackboard (I believe it’s in your profile somewhere (but again can’t remember exactly) where you picked them

I would recommend emailing your personal tutor for more information.
For me, in my first year I studied only core modules and did not select options. However, during first year in February/ March time I got sent an email where I had to select my options for my second year, and the same process followed for selecting my options for third year. You'll be sent an email to select your options with a list of all the available options with information on what it is, what you will study and how you will study it/ be tested on.
