Summer school to strengthen Masters application

I am sophomore at a public university in Germany and planning to do a Masters in the UK. Do you think it would increase my chances to get a place for a Masters course at a top tier uni (Oxbridge, Imperial, LSE, UCL, KCL Warwick ...) if I attend a summer school at a well known institution, like LSE, UCL ...? Or would it be better to do a whole term at a lesser known uni? In general, I am highly skeptical about those summer schools but if it adds some value in this case I would go for it. Maybe someone has been in a similar situation and can share any insights?

Do you have a link to these ''summer schools''? Not sure what you mean by ''do a whole term at a lesser known uni''? Like a semester abroad?

I guess these summer schools would look nice on a masters application for an applied maths masters. Also a semester abroad can't hurt if you are doing the same courses you would've done anyway just in a different place.
