How to resit your gcse science HELP!!!!

Hello everyone

Im 16 years old almost 17 in December and have done my GCSEs last year and did well I got 6 a-c's but I did science double awards and got a C and a D and applied a long time ago to do a levels in science at college.

Unfortunately they didn’t accept me because of the D I got so then they told me the best other way is to do a BTEC national diploma in medical. So I Applied to that course and almost a month later they invited me for an interview and told me that they don’t do BTEC medical this year, only forensic and since I really want to do something in the medical area I decided not to do the course and I applied to retake my science GCSE and they put me on the waiting list. Now I have been waiting for 3 weeks and everyone else’s course has started and I’m still sitting at home.

So I went to my old school today at connexions and they told me that they don’t take external candidates to do science GCSE. And told me that I just have to go into employment and apply for the science GCSE next year and then do that for one year and thennn do my A lvels:eek: Well this is just really annoying and I really don’t know what to do now.

Isn’t there any other way I can retake my science GCSE this year even if I hav to travel to an other city everytime. I just really don’t want to waist another year away:confused:

I am really desperate and I will be very grateful for any help or advice.

First of all, if you only managed CD in GCSE Science, maybe you should rethink your choice of A-Levels, because they are really hard, especially the Science's and even people who get A's can struggle. Medicine is a really competitive field and the very minimum they will expect you to have in Science GCSE is 2B's.

But if your set on a career in the medical field, then if you know the exam board, see if you can find their list of exam centres for external candidates. I think google should come up with it. And you should really retake both Science GCSE's, because unfortunatley for something like medicine a C really wont do you any favours.

Some Unis also ask for a minimum of 6 B's incl. English, Maths & 2 Sciences. So you would be limited as to where you could do medicine or similar, as its one of the few courses to have specific GCSE requirements.

Hope this helps!
