Although we aren't able to recommend individual courses or universities, the courses at York, Lancaster and Southampton are NCSC-Certified degrees. This means that they will be delivering high-quality content, in excellent facilities, using staff who are experienced and knowledgeable in the field. We've also seen the course teams on our certified degrees making huge efforts to adjust the delivery of their courses to minimise the impact of Covid-19. As such, none of them will be a 'bad' choice from that point of view. We're also hoping to announce several more certified MSc courses by the end of March, so will make sure TSR members are kept aware of that.

We always recommend that you take a close look at the modules within a course, to see if they cover the topics that you want to, as every course varies slightly. Are there any particular subjects that you want to see covered in depth, for example? You may also wish to consider the assessment methods used - do you prefer exams, practical assessments, group work, or a mixture? What is the process of deciding/allocating dissertations, and the supervision arrangements, and do these suit your preferences? You've mentioned being interested in a practical course, and that's normally fairly easy to ascertain from the course description, but no doubt other TSR members will be along to share their experiences too.

Although you may only be there for a year or so, does the location suit you? The cities you've listed are quite different places, each with their own attractions.

Sorry we can't offer any direct advice (and if you've already considered all the above!), but we hope this helps - good luck with your decision
